Fourty years ago a group of believers began to meet as Bethel Baptist Church, this year we celebrated that and the dedication of our latest building project which included expanding our auditorium for more growth, expanding our fellowship hall and a new entryway. Pastor Jim Baughman has been our shepherd for the past 12 years and with God's help there has been tremendous growth and a new vision for the gospel. In reality our church is brand new, almost everyone in attendance has been coming for less than 10 years.
It's almost Fall again and as the season's change we are reminded in the Word We believe that God’s Word that Jesus Christ is the Same, yesterday, today and tomorrow. It seems pretty obvious that things are not getting better in this world morally, spiritually, economically, or politically. Thank God for the promise that Jesus Christ is coming soon for His church (all true believers in Jesus Christ). After that will come a time of greater judgment and tribulation upon this earth than it has never seen. Are you ready for His return, waiting, serving, sharing the Good News of Salvation and Peace with God to others?
What are you trusting in?
Is it in your ability or strength of character?
Is it in being a good person?
Is it in being “religious”?
Is it in our government? Or do you even care?
Jesus Christ is coming soon, and we must be ready to meet Him!
Ready or not, He is coming!
What you must do:
* Repent (Turn from sin, confess sin, and turn from yourself to God with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength)
2 Chronicles 7:14 “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
* Believe (Faith is transferring your trust from your own efforts to the efforts of Christ. You were relying on other things to make you acceptable, but now you consciously begin relying on what Jesus did for your acceptance with God)
John 3:16 “Whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.”
* Pray ("I see I am more flawed and sinful than I ever dared believe, but that I am even more loved and accepted than I ever dared hope. I turn from my old life of living for myself. I have nothing in my record to merit Your approval, but I now rest in what Jesus did on the cross by dying for my sin in my place, and I ask to be accepted into God's family for His sake.")
When you make this transaction, two things happen at once:
Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.
14 That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.
"The Church is not a place we go, It is who we are"
